Albert Breer: Pete Carroll Seahawks Could Sign Antonio Brown

With the NFL suspending Antonio Brown eight games for violating the league’s personal-conduct policy, the odds of AB getting signed just increased – perhaps significantly.

“It gives teams clarity,” MMQB senior reporter Albert Breer said on Tiki & Tierney. “I also think that the fact that you’re buying low on him puts some other teams in play. Look, wherever he goes, he’s going with no power. Wherever he goes – I’m assuming it’ll be a good team because there’s no reason for a bad team to sign him – you go where the coach really has the hammer because this could be his last shot in the NFL. So I do think the idea that he’s sort of at a low point and you’re buying low on him changes the dynamic a little bit from where it was last year.”

Brown, 32, was perhaps the best wide receiver in football from 2013-2018. Then the wheels fell off. Fast.

“I do think he lands on a team,” Breer said. “The team that I keep hearing – and it’s been out there – would be Seattle just because Pete Carroll has been able to pull off these sorts of risks in the past. The fact that Pete would be sort of controlling that situation – if he’s any problem, he’s gone – having that sort of power, I think, can make a risk like this seem worthwhile.”

That is, of course, is the franchise is willing to overlook Brown’s considerable baggage.

“The argument about the moral stuff and everything else – his transgressions are very, very serious, there’s no question,” Breer said. “But if you’re comfortable with that part of it, I do understand why a team like Seattle might roll the dice on him.”
